For me MailMate is not super fast but I do not see the kind of slowness
reported in this thread.

I have a MacBook Pro from 2012, upgraded with an SSD and more RAM.
MailMate handles almost 9 e-mails for me.

macOS 10.14.6, MailMate 1.13 (5655).

Re: [MlMt] How to search for unread mails?

2019-10-12 Thread Guillaume Barrette

Hi all,

I’m new here, switched to MailMate in September, so just
wanted to say hi to everyone before commenting :)

Regarding the Unread filter feature, myself I had set a shortcut to
toggle the « unread » filter key (`toggleFilterKey:`) so I can
easily toggle the unread message on/off with a keystroke.

You can set it with a Custom Key Binding set with something like:

`"1" = ( "toggleFilterKey:", "unread" );`

Then in MailMate, you can click on the sender email so it filters your
inbox to your specified contact and press you toggleFilterKey shortcut
("1" in my case) and then see only the messages that are unread.

Hope this help!

Best

Well, that’s what I do, but it’s not quick. Because I need to use
the mouse and restore my previous sorting too.

I would like to type something like „fu sender“ or „fr sender“
that would be quick. @Benny: Maybe a good improvement of the search
syntax.

Same for me, except that at the end the app crashes, or I have to kill
it (last version of Mailmate, MacOS High Sierra). Therefore I can no
longer blacklist an email address.

even see the spinning ball. 3-4 Seconds don’t seem that long but
with the stock Mail application, the window appears instantly.
Also, when typing with MD preview, I actually type faster than the
characters appear on the screen, also in the text window. Something I
haven’t seen since the days of a serial terminal :) None of my
other applications seems so slow/sluggish.

I understand my system is far from being a powerhouse, but I never
considered MM to be a ‘heavy’ application.

is there so network connection involved? i assume mm is asking osx‘ contact
app service for email addresses etc, and then this might ask icloud servers
for something, and if your network is bad this might slow things down. One
usually can test this by turning off internet completely.
