I will try that tonight. However, the caret position as such is 
correct - it is before the first character in the reply email for both 
of us. The difference is that I have two empty lines inserted before 
the quoted original email and my wife does not. The visible settings 
we have, at least those that seem relevant, appear to be the same. I 
have a number of hidden settings added, so I suspect that the 
difference is there. But may be not.

Clicking “Reset Usage History” in the Signatures preferences pane 
fixed the problem !!!

All is well now :-)

Does she have “signature” at the top?

Meaning when the reply email is open where does she want her signature? 
Top or bottom?  I have mine at top and I think MM remembers this choice.

[MlMt] caret position in replies

When I ask for a reply, I get the quote of the original mail with 2 
empty lines above it and the insertion point at the very beginning. My 
wife started using MM and she get no empty lines above the quote - the 
insertion point is in front of the line “On 20 Feb 2019, at 9:22, 
wrote” which is not optimal. We compared our settings and can’t 
figure out how I managed to set the behavior I see.
