Now 2017 and testing on MapGuide 3.1. I have the exact same issue. I tried two different installations, but same result. I can do the the RequestCapabilities call to the WMS, but as soon as the application (QGIS or MapInfo) asks for the image, MapGuide want's a username and password. No MapGuide
