Dear Listers
I would like to use a CMYK palette in Mapinfo instead of a RGB or HSV
palette.
Is there any Mapbasic program or something else available?

Hello Listers
I have been approached by a teacher from one of
our local schools who is intending to start teaching GIS principles to year 8 to
12 students (ages 13 to 17 years). If there is anyone who subscribes to
the list who would be willing to share information about the type of work

Welcome to the list!
as regards the North Arrow have a look in some of the available symbols,
there's a few in there
Also on the subject of templates you could set up a standard border etc in a
separate layer and re-use that every time

Hi,

one of our customers, but I haven't sample codes for two architecture :
- Simple Client Server architecture (The program runs on the
client's machine, and datas are on an Oracle 8i database).
hello
I am planning to make a custom application in Visual Basic 6 with som
MapInfo tools. But I wonder, do I need MapX and some manuals to do thisI
have only used VB, not MapX, before. What is the price for MapX.?
Is everything I need to make a standalone application through VB described
Haavard,
If you want to make a VB application which has MapInfo mapping, you have two
choices:
1. Integrated Mapping
2. MapX
For integrated mapping you only need VB and MapInfo Pro. Your VB
application takes control of an instance of MapInfo through OLE. You can
hide the main MI Pro window
Each time I print to Abobe PDF writer and open the resulting PDF file in Acrobat
Reader I notice that the edges all text are a little blury and not as crisp
visually then if I were to save it as a JPG. I tried changing the font but got
the same result. Has anyone else experienced this when
I was wondering if anyone has seen or produced a thematic pie map where
the shape of the pie is something other than a circle.
I would like to use equally divided, colored, hexagons and squares to
represent the presence or absence of various minerals at numerous sample
locations. The shape of
I'm interested in this as well. So far the way I have done it is to break
the text into pieces and rotate and move each piece to fit along a curve.
(Very time consuming but oh-so-satisfying when finally perfect...!). Please
forward any alternatives to me as well. TIA
Christine

Here I am once more hoping to get your help for a problem I am having.
We were creating some PDF files with a lot of text. Some of the vertical
text is being either compressed or expanded. We have found that the text
that is involved seems to have one thing in common, that it has a decimal

Does any one know how to structure a query so that values in one column can
be compared against one another?
For Example:
NAME
Smith
Jones
Miller
Jones
Washington
Jefferson
I then want to know that Jones was entered twice.
thanks ahead of time.

Susan,
Try this
Select Columns: NAME, Count(*)
From Tables: YourTable
Group By: NAME
Sort By: 2 Desc
That will give you a unique list of all the names in your table, sorted by
the second column (Count) so that those with duplicate entries will show up
first.
Hope it helps,
Jeff James

I am looking at other available options of getting GIS information
accessible to more users within our corporate environment. At present a
