Hi,
In some cases, you wrote a read only file into your hard disk.
For example, you get data from CD-ROM.
So it become read only in the work space. But there may
be some other reason which I do not know about.

THANKS a whole lot, Neil.
Even though I had sworn that nothing would divert me from completing the
week's procrastination today, this was well worth a side trip.

My original inquiry: "Does anyone have any tricks for maintaining the
integrity of dates and times when importing Excel files into MapInfo. I
find that Dates and Times as recognized by Excel are coverted to decimal
format in MapInfo but these are not readily interpreted as Dates once there".
I would suggest adding a temporary column into database, use the
distance(x1,y1,x2,y2) formula to fill the column and perform a query of
table using a descending sort on the temporary column. This will show the
entire list by distance.

Hi,
You may also want to open the TAB file of the table causing the problem and
see if the keyword READONLY is present. If so then you will need to remove
this to stop the table being read only every time you open the table.

Hi List,
Quick question.
What is (or is there) the quickest way from any of the MI files to .DWG?
Interfacing with others is becoming a bit of a lifestyle.
