Hi Andrea, I'm certainly not an expert on this, but it sounds like you have a topology problem somewhere in your table, such as a 'bowtie' (where 2 linear elements of a polygon cross each other without a node at the crossing point). I also have experienced this problem, which is very frustrating if you have many polygons and don't know exactly where the problem is located. I think one of the functions of GeoWiz, which works with FME, is to address such problems of topology. But these cost money, of course. I'm sure someone else can give you better information as to how to address the problem, I just want to warn you that assuming the operation was successful despite the error message would be a mistake, because it has failed to work in at least one location and possibly more. I think the operation stops and produces the error message once it has encountered a topological problem that it can't resolve, leaving the remainder (if any) and the area with the problem uncompleted. Other problems resulting from the failed operation, which are not immediately visible, are also possible. I would also be interested in anyone else's recommended solutions.
