Hi Jory

There is actually a pretty simple trick to doing this: There are a number of
steps but this works well:

1) Open both a Mapper and Layout window
2) In the layout window create a frame to contain the map. Size the frame to
whatever you want.
3) Double-click the frame and uncheck the "Fill frame with contents" option.
You now have a pretty ugly frame containing a map with the same size ratio
as your Mapper.
5) Make sure the frame is still selected and that the layout window is
positioned so that you can see one corner of the frame when you switch back
to the map window.
6) Switch to the Mapper window and resize. You will see the area containing
the map in the frame in the layout window resize as well. Continue until you
have the size ratio matched up closely.
7) Go back to the layout window, double click the frame and check the "Fill
frame with contents" option. You now have a mapper window and frame with
roughly the same size ratio

This not the most accurate system in the world, but it is quick and works
quite well. The inaccuracy you will get is usually not enough to worry
about.

Regards,

James
