Original Question

I  have a raster .bil file (with header .hdr) that MI raster engine will not recognize.
The same file can be read in ArcView and Image Alchemy.
Page 256 of the MI 5 manual does indicate that the BIL (spot) image format can be read.
I wonder what causes MI to reject this file?
Maybe there are numerous flavors of the BIL format?

The .hdr file looks like this:

NCOLS 478

NROWS 480

NBANDS 3

NBITS 8

SKIPBYTES 0

Thanks to Bill Wemple of MapInfo for his quick response.

The required .hdr file format for reading the colour BIL file mentioned above into MapInfo is as follows.

NCOLS 478

NROWS 480

NBANDS 3

NBITS 8

BAND_RGB 123

Bill also gave me the info required for geocoding the image.

For the time being loading the images into MapInfo will be enough to please the client.

Thanks again
