MI: Is it possible to creating a separate Symbol Library

1999-07-15 Thread Richard Takacs

Looking create a specific symbol library from the existing MapInfo library
Symbol Tables.

Is it possible to add a new library file and copy the symbols I use
frequently into this library?

RE: MI v AND h COORDINATES

1999-08-02 Thread Richard Takacs

Is there a way to place the conversion from Lat Long to VH though. Our
system uses this set up in locating. Do not like it that much, creates to
much extra paper work for the field personnel.

It's ATT's coordinate sysstem for billing LD calls. So you must either
have switch locations or rate centers. Cartographic coordinate systems
 are
not something I'm strong on, but basically it is a conversion so that you
can use the Pythagorean Theorem to easily calculate distance between two
points. It's good for Continental US and Southern Canada. But for
 Alaska,
Hawaii, and I suspect N. Canada, the conversion is inaccurate. By no
means is the accuracy of any location at the street level.

I had planned (am planning?) on writing a MapBasic program to convert V
 H
to Lat Long, so I have a bit of code I found on the web w.r.t. the
conversion. Be happy to pass it along, but an easier solution is
available. Telcordia (aka BellCore) sells a small app that converts it to
 Lat and Long.

 Hello all,

 v cordinate
 4,239
 h coordinate
 2,160

MI: Problems in Address matching in v4.5

1999-08-18 Thread Richard Takacs

Having a heck of a time trying to address match in MI 4.5.

Using the street file (d.tab) for the street, and using the City
Boundary File (cb.tab) to refine the search.

The only thing I get back from the search is multiple street locations, and
no address matching. My preferences are set for the address before the
street

MI: Importing ACAD. information

1999-09-13 Thread Richard Takacs

Have been given AutoCAD drawings of our area to import into MapInfo.
Translated them with the Universal Translator Tool with no problems.
When I open the browsers to check out the information. I find that all the
newly created column(s) are blank.

question I'm asking:
How do I import and place the existing information of converted
AutoCAD drawings into MapInfo.
(Hopefully I don't have to enter the information individually.)

Looks like I open a can of worms here with this question.

Has MapInfo address any of the items yet?
