I've been asking around about this; I would like to be able to share
some VB code (access to Win32API, common functions, etc.) with
MapBasic. Currently, I cut and paste the code, then make the
necessary syntax modifications... Not too much of an ordeal, but
could it be better?
The answer so
Open up the .wor file in a text editor...
It should be easily readable...
My nightmare has occurred...
I accidentally deleted a table which was used in several of my
fairly complicated workspaces yesterday and when I try to open them
today, not only can they not find that one but they
I want to be able to use custom buttons in my MapBasic applications,
and preferably share them with my VB apps.
I can create resource files in VB (.RES), but the MI user guide says
that MapBasic can only use DLLs
How does one create a resource file of one type or another, that can

I think you should be able to modify geoset.mbx if MapInfo will
provide the source code...
Is there any way to convert a workspace to a geoset by using
MapBasic-script?
I'd like to convert a lot of workspaces to geosets and using some
kind of batch in MapBasic would speed up this proces
We have a requirement get MapInfo/MapBasic to talk to one of our VB
apps. Only we wouldn't know where to start...
Does anybody know of any good sources of information on this matter?

Isn't it Kernel32.dll? You must have it somewhere because the Kernel
is the part that links your OS to your hardware - it not optional.
I'm having big problems with my beginner's MapBasic exercises. All
DLL calls to "kernel.exe" fail - this file does not exist anywhere
on my system

Hi listers,
1. Is there a mailing list for MapXSite developers?
Geoset.mbx will create a Geoset from your workspace, but as to what it
will include I'm not sure.
However, both Geosets and Workspaces are readable text, so I would run
Geoset.mbx and compare your gst and wor files. If necessary, edit the
Gesoset manually...
hi all
i have a mapinfo
As far as I know PixShow.mbx(?) [available from MI web-site] will do
this.
Hello MI'ers
I'm new to MapInfo and I'm trying to set up a project that will
contain images.
What I want to do is:
Create points that, when clicked on with the mouse, will open a
small image viewer and
I know its a bit parochial, but In UK Local Government Circles, the
desktop mapping breakdown around last year was:
MapInfo 21%
ArcView (ESRI) 19%
Someone else 12%
...and then the rest...
I'm sure MI will give you some figures, but regardless, I suggest
that if ESRI are claiming 90% of most
In the past, I have used InstallShield Express to install my MapX/VB
applications, but I would like to know what other MapX developers
use, and what product the group would recommend
Thanks

experiences with all three and all have been favourable. MapInfo themselves
are a good starting point, but obviously ByDesign and DataView are good if you have
specific requirements... There are plenty of others, I'm sure, but we have had no
experience of them.

Hi Chris
Is this only happening on your development machine, or on end user
machines as well?

This maybe a little off-topic but I'd appreciate some help nevertheless...
In the last few days a rather annoying fault has appeared within my MapX application;
when I close the EXE application or when I end the program running through the VB
development environment, I get an Invalid Page
something needs doing; the documentation
is limited (especially for those who aren't old hands at this) and support
from the Helpdesk is almost non-existent and then only given reluctantly. It's
a shame, becuase it lets a good company and a good product down...
