Vacancy: GIS Analyst for Washington, DC Telecom Research firm
With offices in Washington DC, London, and Singapore, the Strategis
Group is a leading international telecommunications research and
consultancy, specializing in wireless and broadband technologies. We
currently have a vacancy in our DC office for a GIS Analyst that will work
with wireless GIS and databases to support our products to the telecom
community. Experience with the wireless industry is a plus, but not
necessary. Proficiency with Mapinfo and MS Access is required. Duties
include data mining, SQL scripting, spatial analysis, demographic analysis,
cartographic output, account management, customer service, sales support,
and marketing support. The ideal candidate will meet the following
expectations:
* Experience working in a LAN/WAN with MS NT and Windows 95/98
* MS Access (Data Modeling, SQL scripting, Macro building), Excel
(Data Mining, Statistical Analysis), Power Point, Word, Outlook, Internet
Explorer
* Proficient in MapInfo, ODBC, and MapBASIC
* Ability to monitor wireless carrier network build-out of AMPS, GSM,
CDMA, TDMA, & IDEN technologies and FCC license auction activity.
* Ancillary and supportive data components consist of Census aggregate
demographics and TIGER files, MTA/BTA, MSA/RSA, NPA/NXX, LATA, SID/BID,
digital technologies, wireless service plans and rate details, and carrier
personnel information. Any familiarity with these is a big plus.
* Image registration and heads-up digitizing for AMPS, GSM, CDMA,
TDMA, & IDEN coverage map build-out.
* Ability to implement competitive GIS data acquisition methodologies.
* Spatial Analysis, Demographic Analysis, Competitive Market Analysis,
Statistical analysis and modeling.
* Addressing customer queries, needs, and concerns; and applying
appropriate Technical Support and Customer Service.
* Marketing division support including preparing product
demonstrations, product literature, and collateral.
* Technical Sales division support including client consultation,
direct sales, tradeshow attendance and product demonstration, proposal
writing, account management, and business development liaising.
