According to [the discussion|https://s.apache.org/Qu1g] we were having on the 
release cadence and EOL, the 2.6.x line could be EOLed some time in Nov. 2016. 
Although it is far from being concluded, the fate of another 2.6 release is at 
least uncertain. Why don't we hold off on backporting it to 2.6?

We should probably raise the release cadence and EOL topic again and conclude 
it at some point...
