i want to contribute to the development of mapserver (maybe postgis
later :)). can someone break it down in simple steps? preferably
what's the best way to check-out outstanding dev/bug issues, work at
them, and then check them back-in for approval (without tripping over
ego ;))?
in the past, I could do a runtime substitution of a class name by
passing it like so:
..map_layer1_class1_name=new_name
where in the map file, I had:
MAP
LAYER
NAME layer1
CLASS
NAME class1
and in the legend file, I had:
[leg_class_name]
so what changed?

in the past, I could do a runtime substitution
to query wfs, i first specify layer, action and function:
var query = new OpenLayers.Control.SelectFeature(wfs_layer,

then in the function, i style the attributes returned:

looks like we need vectiles but i am not sure if i create them in
postgis or geoserver/mapserver.
does anyone know?
we have a large static geojson file that needs to be chunked up into
vectiles for different zooms and bounds. but before i apply regex on
it, is there already a solution out there?
the subject says it all...
but i need mapserver to slice one large geojson file into multiple
static geojson files/tiles so i can upload them to the disk and serve
from the webserver (without using mapserver)

If you set up Mapserver to serve the original geojson layer as WFS
