Thanks Kobben. I think it might be more than a file naming issue. Below is
the response from ogrinfo but I can find anything related online. Any ideas?

It might be simply that file names beginning with a number are always a bad
idea, because several libs and systems out there have problems with it...?

Eric,

This could be a certificate issue if your server certificate is not a standard
one. You might need to load the cert to your local cert store.

You should ruin this with shp2img on the command line and turn up the debugging
level and see what errors you're actually getting.

Legend definition and am currently copying my old .ttf files from our previous

J?rg,

looks like this is a minefield :(

Strange enough, using bitmap fonts the class names don't get truncated, but
then I don't have the beloved German umlauts. This sure enough looks like a
miscalculation of the space the average letter of a proportional font needs and
so the space allocated for the class name is too small.

Don't know why it worked in 5.6.1 but broke in the transition to 6.4.1

 Hallo Markus,

 I remember this thread:

but I don't know the ending...

In your legend definition you are using wrap, as I remember you have
to use html 'br /' for legends (in the class name). Additionally you
should use an offset to shift the text upward.

In one of my projects I had to use up to three lines for the
description in the legend and I added dummy classes with white symbols
an nbsp; as name between each real class to have enough space for my text.

perhaps this works for you too.

I am migrating my mapserver application from 5.6.1 to 6.4.1 and have
observed a difference in the created legend images, i.e. truncating
of class names - which makes the legend image unusable in the end

The legend definition on both platforms is as such:

 LEGEND
KEYSIZE 22 12
LABEL
  TYPE TRUETYPE
  FONT arial
  SIZE 8
  COLOR 0 0 0
  WRAP @
END
STATUS ON
 END # legend

 Mapfile: Umlauts in html-encoding like
   CLASS NAME Ouml;ffentlicher Trauml;ger

I have to use a truetype font, otherwise I can't render the German umlauts.

 mapserver 5.6.1 gives this result:

 http://maps.muenchen.de/wms-2/rgu/behindertenheime?version=1.1.1serv
 ice=WMSrequest=GetLegendGraphiclayer=l0format=image/pngSTYLE=defa
 ult

and mapserver 6.4.1 gives this one:

 http://kronos.muenchen.de/wms/rgu/behindertenheime?version=1.1.1serv
 ice=WMSrequest=GetLegendGraphiclayer=l0format=image/pngSTYLE=defa
 ult

Have I missed something in the migration guide? Or are there
parameter available to increase the legend size?

The search by county option uses mode=featurenquery. I can provide more detail

[mapserver-users] Data Query Issue

I am auto downloading two different sets of fire point data. One comes in

time and try a Query by Rectangle only the last one defined in the mapfile
returns info. If I reproject one to UTM then they both return information.
This is an auto download every two hours so I would hate to have to mod the

Eric,

Add a PROJECTION/END block inside of Each layer (based on the raw data
projection for each layer) and another at the map level for the projection you
want to use for queries. Mapserver will just transform the locations for you
on the fly when you make a query.

Hello list,

I am auto downloading two different sets of fire point data. One comes in
Geographic WGS84 the other in Geographic NAD83. When I draw both at the same
time and try a Query by Rectangle only the last one defined in the mapfile
returns info. If I reproject one to UTM then they both return information.
This is an auto download every two hours so I would hate to have to mod the
data. I'm using version 6.2.1. Query by point works fine. Any ideas are
greatly appreciate.

Hi,

Problem is on disc, a folder structure is created putin 000 folders for Z,

Is there a way to avoid MapCache creates de 000 folders?

[mapserver-users] MapServer and ArcSDE

2013-07-11 Thread Weisbender, Eric
Hello List,

I'm making this post so that others may avoid the pain that I just went
through. We finaly have a working install of MapServer 6.2.1 compiled with
GDAL 1.9 on 64 Bit Linux Red Hat 6 Enterprise displaying and querying data from
ArcSDE 10.0. At first the data displayed fine with a patch to the mapsde.c
file from Steve Lime, thanks Steve. The problem we struggled with for weeks
was querying SDE. After a lot of internet searching and sleepless nights I
came across the blurb of code below that was the game changer. We added this
to the mods that Steve made to the mapsde.c file and presto. Anyway if anyone
want to know more you can contact me through the list or at my email below.

Steve, I owe you a beer.

void msSDELayerFreeItemInfo(layerObj *layer)

msSDELayerInfo *sde = NULL;

[mapserver-users] SDE Query server 500 error

2013-06-18 Thread Weisbender, Eric
Hello List,

I'm having some issues query an ArcSDE layer. It draws fine but when I try to
query it I get an Internal Server 500 error. I'm wonder if it is like Janos's
issue in this post.
http://osgeo-org.1560.x6.nabble.com/ArcSDE-connection-tt4265649.html#none The
only problem is he's on Windows and I'm on Linux and don't have the first idea
of how to go about a similar fix. Any ideas or help is greatly appreciated.

Or you can just edit mapsde.c by hand based on the patch- it's straight

I've not done much tuning on my setup. I use SDE only when necessary and live
with the performance issues. Tuning on the database itself is the best place to
try and improve things. You might ping the list on this one, more folks use SDE
in general than on 64-bit Linux.

I've successfully compiled against 10.0 on SuSE 11 (64-bit). Files were part of
an SDE client DVD I had access to. Looks like:

root@maps:/opt/sde/sdeexe100 ls *
etc:
services.sde

include:
pe_coordsys_from_prj.h pedef.h pef.h pe_names.h sderaster.h sgerr.h
sqlerr.h
pe_database.h pe_errno.h pe.h sdeerno.h sdetype.hsg.h
sqlerrors.h

lib:
concurrent.jarlibgsrvrora11g100.so libicuuc.so.40.1
libsdedb2srvr100.so libsg.a
icu4j_3_2.jar libgsrvrpg100.so libpe.a
libsdeinfsrvr100.so libsg.so
jpe_sdk.jar libicudata.so libpe.so libsdejavautil.so
  libxerces-c.so
jsde_sdk.jar libicudata.so.40 libpq.so
libsdeora10gsrvr100.so libxerces-c.so.27
libgsrvrdb2100.so libicudata.so.40.1libpq.so.5
libsdeora11gsrvr100.so libxerces-c.so.27.0

libgsrvrora10g100.so libicuuc.so.40libsde.a libsde.so

Compiling was pretty straight forward. I used the following SDE-related options:

./configure [lots of options removed] --with-sde=/opt/sde/sdeexe100
--with-sde-version=100 CFLAGS=-DSDE64

Took a while to figure out the CFLAGS.

Eric,

I assume you mean ArcSDE support? If so, on windows, the ms4w release includes
ArcSDE support. Find it at http://www.maptools.org/ms4w/

For linux, you just need to reference the arcsde development headers path in
the ./configure path for --with-arcsde.

[mapserver-users] MapServer and SDE

2013-05-23 Thread Weisbender, Eric
I apologize for that last email being so garbled. I'm trying to do several
things at once. Anyway, here is what I was meaning to ask.

I am trying to compile MapServer with ArcServer 10 support using an EDN
License. First off, is this possible with just EDN and secondly do you have an
Idea of what disks I might find the include header and lib files on?

[mapserver-users] MapServer ArcSDE on Unix 64bit

2013-05-03 Thread Weisbender, Eric
Hello,

We have MapServer installed on a 64bit Unix box and are trying to recompile
with ArcSDE support. As far as I know ArcSDE only supports 32bit. Has anyone
had success compiling MapServer with ArcSDE in a 64bit environment? If so, is
it the same as documented on mapserver.org or are there special instructions or
even examples somewhere. Thanks in advance.

I don't think so. If feature ids are sequential you might be able to link to a
query that would get you the next feature. Depends on what client environment
you're using.

You could do this with MapScript though.

I would think it could be done, your extent would be given in pixels. Full

Eric,

Interesting idea. I remember a thread a few years back about something similar
being asked.

As far as the geo-referencing part, you can simply use the size of the image as
your reference coordinate system for each image. Mapserver is more generally
suit towards combining different data into a single output, thus the need for a
coordinate system to reference more than one layer.

So, the real question boils down to a technique for fooling MapServer into some
sort of projection some how for each image. Let me think on this a bit. I
wonder though about setting up something to register images to a location via a
loading form which grabs the image size, etc. Then they are put away with the
sudo projection assigned to each image at the uploading point.

I would suggest that OpenLayers is where the problem is because it is
generating the XML that is going to TinyOWS. I have not looked into
this specific issue but in general OL is pretty flexible and you might
only need to set the appropriate namespace or GML level in OL to fix
this problem. I would check with that list first.

/wfs:Value
/wfs:Property
*wfs:Property
 wfs:Nameobjectid/wfs:Name
 wfs:Value18785/wfs:Value
/wfs:Property*

...

The first difference is in the namespace used (feature vs wfs). Any
reason why it is doing so? Another difference is in the way attributes
are included:

wfs:Property
 wfs:Nameobjectid/wfs:Name
 wfs:Value18785/wfs:Value
/wfs:Property

vs

feature:address1test/feature:address1

The third example (using wfs:Property) seems to be the correct way to
specify information in a WFS file. The first example works fine despite
not using that format, because I suspect the GML schema is more flexible
and since it does not have attributes that are not geometries, it is
considered valid.

So I tried turning off schema checking in the tinyows.xml file and the
problem payload go through without issues. So this seem to indicate that
some of the XSD used are strict and don't allow attributes to be defined
like feature:address1test/feature:address1.

So my question is how do I fix this best?

 1. remove schema enforcing at the tinyows level. Couldn't this lead to
potential security issues with the server?
 2. Change the XSD files to allow both ways to define attributes.
Wouldn't this go against the WFS standard?
 3. Change the way OL generates the payload. Not sure where it does it
or how to force it to use a different one.

BTW, I am using OL 2.12 and Tinyows 1.0.0

[mapserver-users] [TINYOWS] Circular references in schemas?

2012-08-30 Thread Eric

Hello list,
I have tried to search through the past archives but couldn't
locate an answer to my question. Apologies if this has already
  been answered.

I have just compiled TINYOWS and installed/configured it. I am
going through the tutorials, and in OL, I get the following error:

  ?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8'?
  ows:ExceptionReport
   xmlns='http://www.opengis.net/ows'
   xmlns:ows='http://www.opengis.net/ows'

   ows:Exception exceptionCode='InvalidParameterValue'
locator='request'
   ows:ExceptionTextXML request isn't valid/ows:ExceptionText

  /ows:ExceptionReport

On the server side, tinyows gives me the following error:
[ERROR] Element

  '/usr/local/tinyows/schema/gml/3.1.1/base/geometryAggregates.xsd'
cannot be imported, since it was already included or redefined.

Which seems to indicate a circular reference in the XSDs. I am using
libxml2 v2.6. I noticed that the recommended version for libxml2 is
2.8. Will upgrading to the latest version resolve the issue?

My configuration file is as follows:
tinyows
  _online_resource_="http://127.0.0.1/cgi-bin/tinyows"
   schema_dir="/usr/local/tinyows/schema/"
   log="/var/log/tinyows.log"

But the problem occurs on WFS GetFeature for us, not on GetCapabilities.
Our layer is a PostGIS layer by the way, which may be related to the

[mapserver-users] WFS GetFeature issue with MS4W

Hi

I'm facing an issue with WFS GetFeature POST requests. This is with
MS4W 3.0.4 [1] (installed from the zip file), on Windows Server 2008
R2 Standard, 64-bit. The XML response returned by mapserv is
incomplete. The WFS GetFeature request is pretty basic, it just
includes a BBOX filter, see [2]. The end of the truncated response
looks like this:

The same WFS GetFeature using GET results in a complete response, so
the issue really is related to POST. And when using MapServer on
*Linux* the same exact WFS GetFeature does result in a complete
response. On Windows the response headers include Transfer-Encoding:
chunked. This has sounded suspicious to me first, because on Linux
MapServer does not return chunked responses. But I also get
Transfer-Encoding: chunked on Windows when using GET.

I have enabled debugging logs in MapServer [3], but this hasn't led
anywhere - the MapServer log file remains empty. Apache access.log
includes Apache access.log: nesitnd1.ne.ch - - [23/May/2012:12:28:19
+0200] POST /test_eric/mapserv? HTTP/1.1 200 36825. This is
interesting to note that the response is a 200. And Apache error.log
does not reveal any MapServer crash (no premature end of script type
of thing).

Any suggestion for me?

Thanks.

Hi Jeff

Thanks for your response. The wms_extent workaround doesn't work for us.
But the problem occurs on WFS GetFeature for us, not on GetCapabilities.
Our layer is a PostGIS layer by the way, which may be related to the
problem based on what I read in the tickets. Please tells if it's worth
creating a new GitHub issue for our problem.

Aihe: [mapserver-users] tileindex query

Hello,

After two weeks of working on querying vector layers displayed by a
tileindex I have still not made any progress. I have tried every
variation of layer definition including connectiontype ogr. I have
updated my gdal, ogr libraries and have tested on MapServer 565 and 601
both. I have tried different shapefiles and different shapefile
combinations both with and with .qix files. I've done this in the past
with great success on MapServer 410 running on a red hat box. We are
now running in production, MapServer 565 on SUSE 10 and I'm starting to
wonder if that isn't the problem. As I said before the query results
seem to be random. Sometimes successful but most of the time I get an
Internal Server Error. Below is the MapServer Error Log file for
both. I am out of ideas and any help or insight is much appreciated.

Re: [mapserver-users] tileindex shptree

2011-10-31 Thread Eric Weisbender
Hello,

After further investigation of this tileindex error issue I have seemed to
narrow it down to the query map not being able to resolve something with the
tileindex. If I comment the query map definition out then all queries of the
tileindex work fine. I'm not sure if this is a bug or an issue with my query
map definition. Advice and/or comments would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

the data referred to by the tileindex if necessary.

I don't feel that adding a spatial index (.qix) is the right
solution. Something is either wrong with your tileindex
or with mapserver (IMHO).

[mapserver-users] Studio - admin tool for MapServer

2011-03-09 Thread Eric Lemoine
Hi

With this email we're announcing the first release of Studio, an admin
tool for MapServer. Studio basically allows editing MapServer
Mapfiles, using an easy-to-use web-based interface.

Relevant links:

- Google Group http://groups.google.com/group/studio-discuss
- Documentation http://camptocamp.github.com/Studio/
- Demo http://demo.mapfish.org/studio/
- Code base https://github.com/camptocamp/Studio
- Studio on PyPI http://pypi.python.org/pypi/Studio

Instructions for installing Studio are provided in the documentation
at http://camptocamp.github.com/Studio/installation_guide.html.

We at Camptocamp started working on Studio two years ago, but, for
various reasons, weren't able to make an actual release of Studio at
the time. With this 0.5 release we want to measure the interest for
such a tool; we know there's still work to be done before reaching a
1.0 release. We're therefore encouraging interested folks to test
Studio, sign up to the Google Group, and provide feedback.

Thanks,

Your error HTML page is not a template, MapServer doesn't process it. Rather it
just redirects
users to it. As I mentioned you can customize the URL redirected to by passing
additional
information like the error message generated by MapServer.

In your error page you'd have to use javascript or whatever to pluck that info
off the query
string and display it on your page. This is totally outside MapServer. If your
error page was
a PHP page you could do it there. Does that make sense?

It's basically the text you'd see in a standard error. You have the
 opportunity to
wrap it in another look feel, somehow parse it and write your own or even
 add
 to it.

There ERROR parameter has no effect in mapscript unless you choose to do so
 yourself. In that environment
you have total control over error messages.

The CGI is a different story. In that environment the ERROR parameter is
used. It's also treated like a template
so you can pass the MapServer error buffer on to your default error page as
 an argument. For example you
 could do something like:

 WEB
   ...
   ERROR 'http://my.site.com/error.html?message=[errmsg_esc]'
 END

and then in your page you could display the message or parse it to display a

 custom message.

 Is that what you're after?

[mapserver-users] Metadata.dim DIMAP

Nevertheless, gdalinfo --formats told me in supported formts list :
DIMAP(ro): SPOT DIMAP.

METADATA.DIM IMAGERY.tfw. Both tfw files give me, when used in Mapserver,
50 meters images too much in Est.

Any idea ?

Re: [MAPSERVER-USERS] Mapserver bug when generating a tiled map with MapFish

2008-08-06 Thread Eric Lemoine
Hi. Do you have maxExtent set in your map options? OpenLayers
shouldn't request tiles outside the max extent. If it does it's a bug
in OpenLayers. Another guestion: what layer type do you use?
Layer.MapServer or Layer.WMS? If you use the former, make mapserver
work as a WMS server and try using Layer.WMS to see if that fixes the
problem. Again the ideal would be some example so that we con easily
reproduce your problem. Eric

2008/8/6, Pierre-Benoit Besse [EMAIL PROTECTED]:
Unfortunately there is no connection to internet on the platform I develop
 on. All is done localy.

I will try to be more precise.
I am trying to display a shapefile representing the whole world (it's a
shapefile from Global Insight plus if it helps). I use mapfish without
'singleTile: true' so the layer is generated by tiles.

There is no problem in the beggining when the map is zoomed to max extent.

The problem occurs when I begin zooming in and trying to display
America/Asia. One of the colums of tiles is drawn across the -180°/+180°
longitude line, and those tiles are generated entirely blank (white, not
 even transparent).

When I get the properties of the image (right-click on the blank tile -
Properties) and I search in the Location of the image I can find :
 mapext=179.296875+44.296875+*225.703125*
 +90.703125imgext=179.296875+44.296875+*225.703125*+90.703125
So I guess the problem comes from that, MapServer doesn't recognise
longitude greater than 180 or lower than -180.
If I'm right I would appreciate any hint on how to handle this...

Otherwise it may be a mapfish issue, maybe mapfish should always generate
tiles with borders right on -180 / +180. This is the case at the beggining,
lef tile has mapext=90+0+180+90 and right tile has mapext=-180+0+-90+90.
But whenever I begin zooming in it goes awry, the border of tiles is no
longer right on -180/+180 and some tiles are generated white by MapServer.

If someone needs more informations I'm ready to give it.

 Best regards,

 PB

  Hi all,

I use Mapserver with mapfish for the client side to display shapefiles
  which
  I generated using ogr2ogr.

The problem is when I try to display a tiled layer (mapfish singleTile
property set to 'false'). Some tiles are generated by mapserver
  entirely
  blank !

After a few researches I think it is due to the fact that those tiles
 are
  extended across the -180°/+180° line.
For exemple, here is the imgext property from one of the calls to
  MapServer
which render a blank tile :
  imgext=178.59375+-1.40625+271.40625+91.40625

Do you know of a way to fix this ?

This is not enough information for anyone to help you. Could you
provide a link or a web page to help people see what's going on?
