Hello,

I have started writing a general approach we could use for LibreOffice
marketing (the document is far from being ready). Today we have a
strategy for marketing, but we don't have goals or general guidelines.
Also, we're missing a general messaging approach, on the community, the
project, and on the software itself. 

We have some solid elements on the community and project already,
although it needs to be a formalized but we're missing the messaging on
the software. It is important not to fall in the trap of "let's define
what LibreOffice should be as a product" since there's no way marketing
messages or marketing positions can influence a Free Software project
into changing software. However it is quite possible and useful to
ponder on what makes the qualities of LibreOffice unique or at least
strong advantages. 

I started doing this for Writer, incidently by writing about
distraction-free editors:

I would like to continue for other modules, such as Impress, Calc,
Draw, Base. Ultimately some ideas would end up defining our messaging
for some time and help us derive anything from brochure content to
messages and talking points.
