Hi all, I want to make an ecommerce site through which to sell the CD / DVD / usb stick with LibreOffice. Is it legal? Can I use LibreOffice logo on documents? Of course I do not make any profit on it, since I sell it at my costs. Also, I have a link to the ISO file of the DVD for free downloading. http://libreoffice-na.us/index.html I do not have an eCommerce site for ordering, since any ordering is through direct emailing and sending a check in the mail before I ship the burned and printed DVD. My DVDs are browser based, so the online demo versions are the same format as the DVDs - except for anytime I have a lag of syncing the updates to the demo pages. I still have to update the 4.2.5 to 4.2.6 and 4.3.0 to 4.3.1. I have the ISO files for those newest versions online for downloading. Hi, I'm glad to know you. Your idea of LibreOffice Box I love and know from the start. Unfortunately I need everything to be in Romanian. I just wanted confirmation of the TDF and LibreOffice personnel that can sell. I wish to make an ecommerce site only open-source products. Do not do it for money but for the fact that there is something to like and promote these programs. In Romania, coordinate openSUSE community and LibreOffice. Get involved in activities and presentations. For example, in October 1, together with open data department of the Government of Romania will have a presentation each week in different cities. Re: [libreoffice-marketing] eCommerce
Take the ideas from the German and English DVD projects and make it into you own version. I have had several people in non-English countries use my project's DVD setup as the foundation of their version. Of course they had to change the text to their native language[s]. By doing this, you get some of the template code already written for you. IT makes it much easier for others not needing to create everything from scratch. That is what I did when I changed to the current DVD format. I downloaded all of the styles and scripts from the LO web site - several main versions ago - and built my browser based DVD from there so it would look similar to the official LO site but with my own variations. I plan on doing a major over hall in the near future, but I will have to write a lot of the template scripting myself, for what I want the new [ 4.4.x?} DVD look and feel. Best of luck on your DVD. I use Ubuntu and Linux Mint, plus Windows 7. Liked Ubuntu 9.x better than the early version of openSUSE I tried on an old desktop/server box [back then]. [libreoffice-marketing] Working with RedMine
Hello, As discussed during the Marketing Strategy Workshop, we would like to draw on the Design team experience and move most of (many at least) of our activities on RedMine (1). We already have a space there (2), mostly populated by the issue tracker. Remember, since several months, RedMine handles every issue that is not related to the LibreOffice code so teams like marketing, design, website, etc. already work there. ** Experiment goals: To improve efficiency for the marketing team, connect easily with other teams, have a more practical set of tools. The Design Team has now fully transitioned to RedMine, including its wiki, and is seeing a real productivity boost (3) . ** Rationale and experiment specifics 1. Public Marketing List ShutDown The marketing list carries little of our current workflow; in fact, most of it has gone to the RedMine issue tracker already. On top of this, the marketing list is not read by most of the people concerned by marketing activities, namely the native-lang projects worldwide. PR coordination happens on the private list and to a lesser extent on IRC for meetings. The marketing list, just like any list, requires administration work, i.e. moderation. There's a lot of spam arriving, usually in waves, and it requires the approval or refusal of incoming mails (spam, unsubscribed posters, etc.) The suggestion for the experiment is to stop using the public marketing list completely for one month, and to rely on the Issue tracker of RedMine meanwhile. The main idea here is to move our activities entirely to a task-based workflow for the team. PR announcements coordination can continue to be handled via the private list and IRC for meetings (note that RedMine can have private spaces and subprojects); anything else, such as discussions, would happen on the discuss list and for cross-project awareness on the project mailing list. RedMine has the ability to embed forums, that look a lot like issue tracker posts. It is an option worth considering in the future, but at the moment I suggest we do without it. 2. New Wiki I am personally not entirely sold on this one, but we are in a situation where the marketing wiki pages are quite numerous, yet completely chaotic, and often outdated. We can think about cleaning these wiki pages, but given their amount we may consider to start a fresh with a new wiki. I'm not suggesting that we open twenty new wiki pages on RedMine tomorrow, but that we use it for a month if we need it. ** Expected results: - increased efficiency - less maintenance (for us, not necessarily for the infra team ;-) ) - increased clarity in terms of resources, contacts, etc. - task-based workflow (partially achieved already) I'll leave everyone until the end of the week (2 days roughly) to think about it and comment here. Thanks, Charles. Right now people can easily join or review what's going on in marketing by subscribing to or looking in the marketing archives. Would the same public nature carry-over into Redmine? anything else, such as discussions, would happen on the discuss list and for cross-project awareness on the project mailing list. So let's say someone want to discuss marketing strategies in schools. Would that go to the tdf-discuss list, or? 2. I'm not suggesting that we open twenty new wiki pages on RedMine tomorrow, but that we use it for a month if we need it. One of the benefits of having a single wiki is the ability to easily cross-link between teams, etc. Plus we do have a ton of content up there, including event pages stretching back multiple years. If the Marketing pages on the TDF wiki are hopelessly unusable, we can always move them all under /Marketing-old/ and start from a blank slate, but I'd expect that some heavy editing might be more productive? ** Expected results: - increased efficiency - less maintenance (for us, not necessarily for the infra team ;-) ) - increased clarity in terms of resources, contacts, etc. Could you explain a bit more what you mean re: resources/contacts? - task-based workflow (partially achieved already) A big +1 to a task-based workflow. I've been experimenting with redmine a bit myself, and I think that it has some potential for anything that's specifically encapsulated as a TODO item. I'm a bit more cautious about using it in lieu of existing infra for other purposes.
