Dear MARMAM members The NOAA/NMFS DEIS on acoustic guidelines is still out for public comment until March 13. (http://www.nmfs.noaa.gov/pr/acoustics/guidelines.htm) For those of you interested, we submitted our comments last week: http://ocr.org/pdfs/letters/NOAA_Draft_Acoustic_Guidance_2013_OCR_Comments.p df We also sent out a brief critique of the guidelines to our largely lay constituents: http://ocean-noise.com/blog/2014/02/noaanmfs-acoustic-guidelines-reviewed/ These guidelines are for regulatory thresholds for marine mammal "Level A Takes" and would benefit from the input of the interested professionals on this list-serve.
