For those who are interested, I will be on the radio Saturday morning,
10:30 Pacific Time. I'll be discussing Trump's financial ties to the
Russian oligarchs/mafia, which make him more beholden to them than to the
global interests of the US capitalist class. Essentially, Trump has
functioned as a money launderer for them. However, the reason the US
capitalist class cannot go after him for this is that money laundering is
rampant throughout the entire real estate industry, and revealing Trump's
role would threaten to open up this entire can of worms.

The horror of the Grenfell Fire where the aesthetic needs of the rich were
put before the safety of the poor marks, I think, a serious moment in the
decay of the ruling Tory Party in Britain. The truth is that the tower of
flats housing the poor was covered up with cheap cladding to protect the
property values in the rich neighborhood.

The Tory Prime Minister, known as Maybot, is totally incapable of even
feigning a humane response. She is for fox hunting, ivory trading and
grammar schools but not for meeting people. She seems without the capacity
to make a cliche sound sincere and surely that is a fatal weakness for a
politician.

One can imagine what Bill Clinton would have done here. Clinton could do
empathy endlessly and effortlessly and totally insincerely.

May has only her posh accent and that does not cut it in this case. She
survives for the moment though she is universally hated within and without
her party. Tories know that if she goes now then the whole rotten edifice
of Toryism would collapse.

Are we on the threshold of a systemic crisis in England?  Could this be the
European Spring that I have dreamed off for decades and decades?  Are the
poor about to rise up?

I can almost hear Richard Seymour shaking his head and saying we must be
sober and serious, but the questions do not appear so mad even if the Tory
Government can survive.

The Canadian Network On Cuba (CNC) denounces the violation of the sovereignty 
of Canada by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the U.S. Treasury 
Department.  OFAC fined the American Honda Finance Corporation (AHFC) $87,255 
for approving and financing between February 2011 and March 2014 the leasing by 
Honda Canada Finance Inc. of 13 cars to the Embassy of Cuba in Canada. 

 

This is an unambiguous act of hostility against Cuba carried out within Canada 
by Washington. The extraterritorial application of the U.S. economic blockade 
of Cuba targets not only Canada, as the AHFC is a subsidiary of the American 
Honda Motor Company, which is itself owned by Honda Motor Co. Ltd. and based in 
Japan, not the U.S.

 

Because Honda Canada Finance Inc. is a majority-owned subsidiary company of 
American Honda Motor Company, Washington insists that it follow U.S. law as 
demanded by the 1992 Torricelli Act and the 1996 Helms-Burton Act.

 

In short, U.S. law supplants Canadian law within Canada! 

 

Not only is this a violation of the sovereignty of Canada, it contravenes the 
Canadian Foreign Extraterritorial Measures Act (FEMA). 

 

In response to the Torricelli Act and the Helms-Burton Bill, the Government of 
Canada specifically amended FEMA in order to protect Canada against the 
increasing extraterritorial nature of the U.S. economic blockade of Cuba. Thus, 
FEMA prohibits Canadian corporations from complying with the extraterritorial 
measures of U.S. economic sanctions against Cuba

 

This violation of Canadian sovereignty by the U.S. Treasury Department 
illustrates that Washington not only wages an economic blockade against Cuba 
but also a diplomatic and political blockade. 

 

Is this extraterritorial interference in Canadian sovereignty a warning that 
Canada-Cuba relations is now a direct target of the Trump administration?

 

The CNC calls on the Government of Canada to uphold the country's sovereignty 
and reject this or any other effort to implement in Canada the internationally 
condemned and illegal U.S. economic blockade of Cuba. 

 

The CNC urges the Canadian government and parliamentarians not to allow 
Canada's policy towards and relations with Cuba to be targeted or undermined.

Throughout the Middle East, sectarianism is a problem that has existed 
for decades but more recently has reached catastrophic dimensions with 
ISIS declaring just about ever religious rival as a takfiri. This has 
led to stoning, beheadings, the rape of Yazidi women and an iron 
enforcement of sharia law that makes every person living under its sway 
worried about becoming the next victim of its religious enforcers.


While ISIS was a virulent strain of sectarianism from its outset, you 
also see a level of brutal and relentless warfare between the 
majoritarian Sunni sect and its rivals in Iraq, Syria, Yemen and 
elsewhere unknown in the past, no matter how sharp the differences over 
who inherited Mohammad’s mantle of authority. For people who have more 
than the usual interest in Syrian politics, the problem of sectarianism 
is particularly acute since the early days of the revolution were 
largely devoid of such conflicts.

a lunatic "visionary". Mad indeed. How much fun would it be when your bones
start to break because they don't have the 100% needed gravity to insure
