His final words to Ostrovsky vis-a-vis the current government: "The political elites have to be destroyed". Apparently this is the view of many of his comrades as well. The tragedy of this separatist rebellion is that it forestalled if not entirely destroyed the possibility of a struggle against the elites by polarizing Ukraine along ethnic lines. Russian intervention--and that is what it was all about--followed Bashar al-Assad's strategy in many ways. Divide and conquer through exploiting sectarian divides and rapidly militarizing the conflict. Too bad that some of our comrades can't understand that.
