My understanding of the debate over the Israel Lobby is not that we are
debating whether this is a powerful and well-financed lobby. Clearly, it is.
But is it so powerful that it can prevent the US from pursuing its national
interests in the Middle East? I don't think so. And I think that is what we
are debating.
The subject line A. R. G. has chosen for his posting, Obama ushers in the
crisis of the Israel lobby, demonstrates to me the very real limits on the
power of that lobby.
