It seems to have the same US holy warriors' revenge plot as the Fallujah campaign. This is the third-largest city in Iraq and if the US military and its Iraqi cronies 'do the city' the way they have all of Anbar (and the British did Basra) another third of Iraq will look like Gaza. Which apparently is the goal.
