and Engels famous aphorism below in your development of a sort of absolute
"unintentionality" in the development of human society. M and E say people "make their
own history...". This implies so

I think the answer to Carling's question in the following passage is , in part, that
language, symbolic behavior, what cultural anthropologist generalize to culture, is a
mechanism by which acquired characteristics can be
