"This development presents todayâs revolutionaries with a particular opportunity. As the objective movement against private property and for everything from food to housing to health care broadens, it will encompass many different interpretations and expressions. Today communism is the program of the new, communist class â abolition of private property and the reorganization of society with distribution according to need. It is the practical and objective resolution to the problems that society is objectively struggling out.
To meet the challenges posed by this opportunity, revolutionaries should proceed from the distinction between communism and Marxism. Communism is a goal; Marxism is a scientific approach to achieving that goal. Marxism is the scientific current within that broader communist movement â which includes religious, cultural, practical and other expressions. Grasping this distinction and making it operative in political work and organization will open the way for the greatest possible unity between the objectively communist goals of the social struggle and the ideological understanding of the combatants. Meeting the ideological challenges of this period will depend on various forms of organization. Doctrine, therefore, also has its organizational expressions. A particular stage of the objective process calls for and makes possible a definite stage of development of the subjective aspects of the revolutionary movement. Therefore, the organizational purpose, structure, and work of the organization of revolutionaries have to be continually realigned in order to accomplish a particular stage of development of the subjective aspects of the revolutionary process. The development of a class whose objective goal is communism means there is the basis for a movement that is objectively different from any social movements revolutionaries have reckoned with until now. full: http://www.scienceofsociety.org/philosophy/texts/doctrine.html _______________________________________________ Marxism-Thaxis mailing list Marxism-Thaxis@lists.econ.utah.edu To change your options or unsubscribe go to: http://lists.econ.utah.edu/mailman/listinfo/marxism-thaxis
