The old society in which I was born and grew into manhood, is being destroyed by an objective process and nothing can stop it. Old formula is useless. We have inherited a treasure house of Marxist literature covering virtually every conceivable subject. We have also been wounded in the past my our mortal enemy, the bourgeoisie power and ourselves - our own mistakes.
Revolution comes about as the result of the development of the means of production. An antagonism develops between the new, emerging economic relations and the old static political relations within the superstructure. The people will have to decide what kind of new society will replace the old industrial order. Only at that point do you have class struggle and the book definition of antagonism will pass into the school of life. Class struggle, that is the clash over reconstruction of a society facing a qualitatively new means of production, is a clash between the political representatives of the various classes over how and in whose interest a new society will be built. I recalled the moment when the new form of the conflict between worker and capitalist engulfed me in the most personal sense. The year was 1997 in the month of April. The sense was my home plant, Chrysler Mound Road Engine - UAW Local 51, and this strike struggle became the lengthiest to hit Chrysler since the 1950s. Literature about this battle is on line by punching in Mound Road Engine Strike. I played a role in this strike and we got our asses kicked for a complex of different reasons not limited to "bad union leaders." Later Chrysler was sold to Daimler Benz and this altered certain features of the company. This history is worth discussion and some of this was discussed by myself on Marxmail. At that time I had very little patience for political Trotskyism and simply could not coexist with that political body of theory. I did encounter individuals who I deeply respect and that softened and changed my attitude on various questions and issues. We are all witness to history as participants and our stories are worth recording. My self appointed task is to represent the very bottom of the proletariat, rather than who I have been and the strata I was born into. We fought along this line back in the early and mid 1970s, even while I embraced the last form of American anarcho syndicalism. If my replies to Comrade CB have been to sharp I apologize and will try to do better. This critique and criticism against his body politic and theory was actually a self criticism of myself. Been there and did that. It don't work and needs to be fixed.
