Re: M-TH: From China

2000-03-31 Thread Michael Pugliese

'Cuz that brilliant Marxist, Henry Liu, had posted it to Lou's list, the
Socialist Register and M-TH lists, and Henry hasn't spammed here yet, as
part of the campaign against fifth columnists, postmodern division, Doug
Henwood.
It's getting embarrassing to admit to any adhesion to marxist analysis
with all the demagogy, name-calling, and apologetics, on the marxist
internut fora. But, hey, as others are more than happy to tell me, I'm not a
marxist. At least not one will their type of blinders on.
And Charles, pay special attention, to part fourof the article entitled,
"Modernity and Totalitarianism, " by L. Pellacani, that i sent to M-TH,
yesterday. (haven't seen it appear yet, is this a moderated list?) Anyway,
some especially blood thirsy words from Lenin re:terror. State and
Revolution, is far from the last word on democracy. Cf. A.J. Polan book on
Lenin, "The End Of Politics." And the critique of orthodox marxist and
neo-marxist state theory by Van der Berg, published by Princeton Univ.
Press.
 Michael Pugliese, running
dog social democrat, Woof, Woof! just found Martov, in the dustbin of
history!
Cf. Andre Liebich book on the Mensheviks from Harvard Univ. Press, 1999,
translated from the French?

P.S. The american far right, that still says "Red China, " thinks the PRC
and N. Korea is gonna invade. Sacramento, Ca. airport is being readied to
handle up to 16,000 S. Korean refugees in case of invasion.
Henry and these primitive anti-communists share the common illusion that the
PRC is socialist, if from very different, self-conceptions of their
underlying political ideology. Taiwan, should be on it's guard but I really
doubt the PRC is gonna invade there either, too many investments and labor
pools to be exploited back and forth between the PRC/CCP Red bourgeoisie and
the KMT and Democratic Party in Taiwan aligned bourgeoisie.

CB: Just my routine commie news service function.

Also, one of "facts" in trying to decide what is going on in China is that the Party
still claims to be Communist, that socialism is still their long term goal. That's
still different than what is going on in Russia, where they don't even claim it in
words.

2000-03-30 Thread Chris Burford

I agree this sort of news from China is important.

I also agree that it is silly to take a routinely positive or a routinely
negative attitude to developments in China.

But why did you choose this item? What conclusions do you draw from it?
