Governor Baker has recently signed comprehensive criminal justice reform into law which included my legislation on Restorative Justice. This will have an incredibly positive impact on the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The law allows restorative justice to be used in every municipality across the Commonwealth. A juvenile or adult defendant may be diverted to a community-based restorative justice program pre-arraignment or at any stage of a case with the consent of the district attorney and the victim.
Thank you to Senator Jamie Eldridge for filing and advocating for this legislation in the State Senate, Chair of the House Judiciary Committee Claire Cronin, Chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee Will Brownsberger, Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan, Erin Freeborn and Communities for Restorative Justice, Arlington Police Chief Fred Ryan, and all the advocates who worked so hard to get Restorative Justice passed. Restorative Justice is now law in Massachusetts! Learn more at www.c4rj.com by State Rep Sean Garballey -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "massfire" group.
