Hi, I just tried ginput with the latest SVN (gtkagg backend) and it seemed to work fine. I recently have had problems with numpy, scipy, matplotlib and/or wx getting out of sync in terms of binary compatibility. Perhaps a rebuild of one or more of those will fix things for you?
