Cognos Administrator White Plains, NY $50/hr c-c all inclusive Background: Our company utilizes MS SQL server databases for many of our applications, most importantly for our enterprise data mart. We are in need of an individual to assist in the design, development, tuning and maintenance of our SQL databases across all applications as well as some of the data design and report development within our BI Environment (Cognos 10.1.1). The Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for providing technical support for the database environment including overseeing the development and organization of the databases, assessment and implementation of new technologies, as well as assisting with the development of Cognos frameworks and reports. Job Responsibilities: · Ensure availability and performance of SQL databases that support company systems · Design, develop, automate and tune daily processes to populate databases utilizing stored procedures and ETL tools · Provide support during the development and enhancement of production applications including working with applications, technical support and operations during the design, development and implementation of applications · Update the design of the Enterprise Data Mart and create Cognos 10 framework models to support business information needs · Administer security inside Cognos 10, utilizing the existing LDAP · Assist in the development of Cognos reports, queries, dashboards, etc. as needed · Allocate hardware resources to databases to optimize resilience and performance, including tuning (e.g, indexing, optimization, memory allocation) · Proactively monitor databases and supporting infrastructure and quickly react to any issues in order to ensure secure services with minimum downtime · Diagnose and resolve SQL related issues · Maintain database software, including expansion of databases and upgrades · Foresee database capacity issues using appropriate tools and methodologies and alert Infrastructure team in advance of issue to allow proper planning and assessment. · Develops a security scheme for the database environment · Design and support database DR environment · Design and develop ad-hoc queries using SQL and reporting Skills / Attributes Required a.. 3-5 years Microsoft MS SQL Server experience, including managing multiple MS SQL 2005 & 2008 RDBMS on large systems. b.. In depth SQL Server Database Administration experience. c.. Data warehouse design and development experience d.. ETL design and implementation experience with a variety of tools and/or methods e.. Experience of Transactional SQL, and DTS stored procedures f.. Experience in development and administration of Cognos 10, including creation of framework models, reports and dashboards g.. Experience integrating LDAP security into Cognos and SQL databases h.. Experience in managing the internal and external MS SQL database security i.. Experience in monitoring and tuning a database to provide a high availability service j.. Experience in designing and developing ad-hoc queries using SQL and reporting k.. 3-5 years IT operation with strong understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and practices l..
