*Database Developer*

This is a contract hands-on position for a fast-growing, highly successful
financial technology company based in New York City.  The database
developer is a critical role in our organization.  This person will do
hands-on design and development on our new flagship product.  This is a
great opportunity to contribute strongly to a new product and help to guide
it development at a crucial phones.

The role requires a great SQL Server developer who enjoys leading the way
in both technology and understanding the business.  It requires someone who
is outspoken, confident, leading the industry and can work closely with our
small but strong team in a collaborative manner.



*Responsibilities*

   - Write and troubleshoot complex code for SQL Server 2014+
   - Design, create, and enhance stored procedures, triggers and database
   schemas
   - Generate reports to be consumed by internal applications and reporting
   tools
   - Design, develop and enhance daily/nightly data processing tasks
   - Work with the software development team on application-specific
   database needs
   - Develop and test new SSIS/SSRS packages to meet business needs
   - Handle requests for data import and export
   - Maintain and enhance our existing data imports, exports, and reports
   - Improve the overall quality of our data and reports
   - Automate multi-database script deployment and versioning
   - Troubleshoot and optimize database performance



*Qualifications*

   - A minimum of seven (7) years of hands-on experience with database
   development
   - A minimum of five (5) years development on SQL Server
   - Expert Level SQL Skills creating Stored Procedures, functions,
   triggers, and views.
   - Bachelor’s degree in Technology/Computer Science or a related
   technical discipline required or the equivalent work experience
   - Ability to create normalized/de-normalized database schemas.
   - Demonstrated ability to implement/troubleshoot backup solutions and
   database security, User management, data Maintenance tasks
   - Knowledge of database design principles, index management, integrity
   checks, statistics and Isolation Levels.
   - Experience building nightly processing and operations on large
   datasets is preferred.
   - Demonstrated ability in performance tuning, query optimization using
   SQL Server native tools (DTA, Profiler, and System Stored Procs, DMV's,
   DMF's).
   - Experience in code migration, database change management and data
   management through the various stages of the development life cycle required
   - Must demonstrate an understanding of logical and physical database
   modeling concepts
   - Ability to perform ETL operations/reporting from multiple sources
   including internal, external using Microsoft BI Tools (SSIS/SSRS/SSAS)
   would be a plus
   - Scripting experience is strongly preferred
   - Experience working with large data sets would be a plus
   - Financial services or market knowledge a plus
   - Recent Experience with SQL Server 2012/2014.
   - Familiar with .net, XML, APIs and JSON would be a plus.
