It is time to submit proposals for this year's MCN conference. We had a
lot of good discussion at the last SIG meeting re: future session
possibilities. Here are some of the topics suggested at that time. Let
me know what you would like to see at the conference and if you are
interested in presenting or participating in a group effort.
1. Roundtable to discuss Technology Departmental needs and issues
2. Digital Preservation from a technical standpoint
3. Operations or Business Applications
4. Disaster Planning
5. Tech Planning
6. Staff Training;
o Different ways institutions develop their training
programs
o Importance of providing basic level of computer literacy
7. What is IT's role in your institution? Is the size of the
institution a determining factor? Is the structure? Is there a
difference if the IT director reports to the Operations Division or the
Program Division? Centralized vs. decentralized vs. University
structures? Does structure direct staff thinking?
8. Outsourcing vs. on-site support staff?
