Hello -

I’m excited to share with the community the launch of Hammer Channel from
the Hammer Museum. https://channel.hammer.ucla.edu

This new video platform presents over 1,000 talks, performances,
conversations and more from the Hammer Museum, going back to 2005,
including programs ranging from art and film to politics and activism. The
site is built on a DAMS (AssetBank) that puts all of our video content in
one place. For audiences, the site is organized much like a streaming
service.

Made possible by a grant from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, Hammer
Channel allows users to search, clip and share our many programs.
Transcripts of every program are included on the site, making these
programs easier to search and a great resource for scholars and students.
The site was created by the amazing team at Cogapp, and they have made the
underlying code and the framework open source. We hope this model can be
replicated at other institutions, and that what we learned can be a
significant resource for other museums and nonprofits who have a lot of
video content to manage and publish.

Numerous talented individuals in nearly every department of the museum
contributed to the site. Phil Leers managed the creation of the website, in
collaboration with myself, and Cogapp made the build. We had a huge team of
staff who put in hours of time behind the scenes, preparing each and every
video, transcripts, and the metadata for upload to the new site.

Cogapp wrote up a great and comprehensive case study of the project:

We'd love to hear any feedback you have, and are happy to answer
questions.
Feel free to contact me or Phil anytime.

And I am sure the team at cogapp would be happy to discuss as well.

Enjoy!
