Steve asked: I'm curious, I had assumed the term "Digital Signage" pretty much precluded interactivity, but the company you mention has "interactive" right in their name, so I skimmed their website - but I didn't notice much that seemed interactive.
The "interactive" portion of what they do out of the box is pretty much limited to wayfinding solutions. They actually have a pretty slick interactive setup with facilities maps to do basic wayfinding and routing to areas of interest. We haven't implemented this yet, but will be looking into it in the coming year. Thinking of how this solution can be used for managing interactive content - they do support Flash and pretty much anything that can be run in a browser, and the digital 'signage' endpoints are just PCs, so you could setup an interactive endpoint within the system and control it centrally, but I think one would have to look at the ROI of doing so - perhaps justifiable if you have an interactive endpoint that you want to change content on fairly regularly. By far the best solution we found, and one we recently implemented, was Four Winds Interactive Digital Signage: http://www.fourwindsinteractive.com/ The cost was extremely competitive compared to other solutions (and ultimately negotiable), the feature set is rich, and the project management from their end was great. We had some very unique needs for delivering content via our own XML feeds as well as a list of other oddball requirements, and they helped us meet all of these in short time. Feel free to contact me directly if I can answer any specific questions about our implementation or our experience working with them. Marc E.
