Subject: FW: Endowed Professor position in Museum Studies

The University of Missouri-St. Louis is conducting a search for an endowed
professorship in Museum Studies (job advertisement attached). After
receiving a limited pool of applicants in our first attempt, we are now
broadening our search. We are hoping to hire someone to start in August,
but at this late date that could be negotiated. I am hoping that you can
help me get out the word. This is an endowed professorship with its own
program budget, so we aim to attract a senior scholar. The successful
candidate will direct the graduate program in Museum Studies. S/he would
have a tenure home in one of the three collaborating departments (History;
Art and Art History; or Anthropology, Sociology, and Languages). Thus,
candidates should have sufficient academic qualifications to qualify for
tenure, and should also have sufficient experience in museum work to carry
out the primary duty of the position, which is to train museum
professionals.  The ?community history ? in the job title may be misleading;
the current director of the program, who is retiring, has a Ph.D. in
anthropology.
 Could you please forward this advertisement to any likely candidates, or
suggest their names to me so that I may contact them personally?
Thank you for your help in advertising this position.
Sincerely,
Susan Brownell
