[MCN-L] Looking for Digitization Strategy/Implementation Plans

2011-01-12 Thread Jeanne Kessler

Fellow MCNers -

We are just starting to develop a comprehensive Digitization Strategy for our
Museum. Although, like many others, we've put our foot into the water of
digitizing our holdings, we do not have an institution-wide document that
outlines what we are expecting to achieve and what our vision is of this
program.

While I have looked at a number of documents, including the Smithsonian
Digitization Strategy (which is extremely high-level and conceptual) I'd be
very grateful if anyone out there could share any similar documents and plans
they have created on this topic.

Essentially we are trying to develop a document that describes not just what we
want to achieve, but also provides an implementation plan - the timeline,
budget and resources (both equipment and people) and also what is the order in
which we digitize (by media type, by topic, or some other approach.)

Any documents that pertain to this topic would be very welcome.

When our Strategy/Plan is complete I will(of course) be more than happy to
share it with others.

Thanks so much.

  Jeanne Kessler

 Hi all,
I'm working with our friends at UC Berkeley to arrange a Cal SIG meeting
 there for us in May.
Due to the end of the school year, things are pretty busy and though we
 normally meet on
Fridays, it may not work this time around.

Would you come to Berkeley for the meeting on Saturday, May 21?
Or is Friday the only day you could come?

Meetings are usually 10-5-ish, depending on the program.

Let me know what you think, we'll plan based on your responses.

 Thanks
