[MCN-L] Exhibition Website Template

2013-02-12 Thread TAMSEN SCHWARTZMAN
Hello,
Do any of you use a dedicated CMS or template for their *exhibition* websites?
Are you happy? Have problems? Could you share examples?

Many thanks!!

Hi Koven

I'm presenting a paper on this question at Museums and the Web, if you just
can't wait I can send you the paper in advance if you like?

The MCA experience is not exactly what you're looking for as we've got
different suppliers for tickets and store (no single cart), however they are
integrated in such a way that new memberships bought in either the store/eStore
or alongside a ticket purchase automagically appear in the other system using
open APIs. Also, new memberships that are purchased onsite appear in both
systems as well, with new accounts (and requisite discounts) available in both
almost immediately.

Let me know if you find a good (not astronomically expensive) single shopping
cart solution, I'd be curious to see if anyone has got this working in a way
that they (and their users) are happy with.

cheers,
keir

Hey, MCN-ers! I'm looking for any concrete examples out there of
museums that have tightly integrated their ecommerce and ticketing
solutions, ideally with some sort of single-cart checkout, so that the
end user is able to buy tickets, memberships, and shop items with a single
 transaction.
Bonus points if you're also integrating the collections in some way
 (via print-on-demand or other).

If you're one of these rarefied creatures, can you tell me a little
about what software(z) you're using, and how the integration(z) work?
 Thanks in advance!

 Koven

[MCN-L] CMS based digital signage recommendations

2013-02-12 Thread Christina DePaolo
Hi MCNers,
Anyone happy with a CMS based digital signage program? One that can have a
custom UI?

My apologies if this issue was recently addressed on the list-serve.

At the MIA, we replaced an expensive and hard-to-use proprietary system
with Xibo
http://xibo.org.uk/
We've been very happy with it, it's easily updated and we can load our own
designs. Hasn't required much technical support, it just works.
