2019-01-16 Thread Bryan Gawronski
Dear Steve,

We use MacBook Air laptops for our staff and run VMWARE Fusion with Windows for
a setup like the one your describing. I would be happy to discuss how this
works with you.

Currently we use Remote Desktop (similar to Citrix) but I wanted to

Parallels or VMWare Fusion.

My Mac users don't need Windows for anything else other than TMS, so I'd
like something that "hides" the windows stuff as much as possible so that it
feels as if TMS is just another Mac app. (Using BootCamp is not an option for
us.)

Any suggestions? -Steve

2019-01-16 Thread Jonathan McMillan
We found that the Windows VM's weren't being used sufficiently to keep them up
to date. That, combined with the additional licensing, led us to move away from
Parallels to Microsoft Remote Desktop.

[MCN-L] Is anyone familiar with History IT?

2019-01-16 Thread Robin White Owen
Hello MCNers,

I posted this back in December but didn’t get any traction. However I’m still
interested since one of our clients is considering using the History IT
platform.

We’re trying to gain a better understanding of how flexible their templates are
- how easy it is to customize the navigation as well as the front end design.

We’re looking into how we can use their platform to present an archive of video
oral histories, transcriptions and other documents, and create a contemporary
and user friendly experience for an audience of young women activists. Their
set up is very useful but seems to cater more to academics.

If you’ve had any experience with History IT we’d love to hear about it. Feel
free to respond off list.

Thank you very much,

Robin
