We've lately been using Strapi (https://strapi.io/) to build out a repository to capture collections-related content not already stored in our CMS (Drupal 7) or TMS. Some benefits are that 1.) We're able to lean on the built-in API of the headless CMS to readily deliver that information downstream, rather than forcing it into existing systems that would need heavy customization to store it, and 2.) It introduces content creators and managers to the notion that content can be decoupled from presentation in a way that's not totally disruptive.
Before this we built a small site with GatsbyJS, which in a lot of ways served as a test of the above concepts, though didn't ultimately scale as well as we'd hoped largely because it was so closely tied to markdown as a content format.
