Wonderful! Thank you Wendy! Do you integrate with Raisers Edge as well?

Can I set up a conference call with you sometime in the next week and include

Good Morning,
We at the Saint Louis Art Museum also use TAM in our retail shops and at our
Visitor Services desk (for Membership sales). The St. Louis Zoo uses the
ticketing software for their entire operation, as I understand. I would also be
happy to talk with you.

Hi Koven

I'm presenting a paper on this question at Museums and the Web, if you just
can't wait I can send you the paper in advance if you like?

The MCA experience is not exactly what you're looking for as we've got
different suppliers for tickets and store (no single cart), however they are
integrated in such a way that new memberships bought in either the store/eStore
or alongside a ticket purchase automagically appear in the other system using
open APIs. Also, new memberships that are purchased onsite appear in both
systems as well, with new accounts (and requisite discounts) available in both
almost immediately.

Let me know if you find a good (not astronomically expensive) single shopping
cart solution, I'd be curious to see if anyone has got this working in a way
that they (and their users) are happy with.

Hey, MCN-ers! I'm looking for any concrete examples out there of
museums that have tightly integrated their ecommerce and ticketing
solutions, ideally with some sort of single-cart checkout, so that the
end user is able to buy tickets, memberships, and shop items with a single
 transaction.
Bonus points if you're also integrating the collections in some way
 (via print-on-demand or other).

If you're one of these rarefied creatures, can you tell me a little
about what software(z) you're using, and how the integration(z) work?
 Thanks in advance!

Dear Amber,

We are in the process of implementing Retail Pro for our museum shop.
It has advanced inventory control; point of sale; and merchandising
capabilities. It also has extensive reporting. We had to customize the
system for ticketing. I do not believe it handles tour reservations -
but you may be able to customize it for that too.

We purchased the system from IMS (International Micro Systems Inc.,
www.ims-pro.com). The company also sells software entitled STADIS that
integrates ticketing, concessions, and merchandise.

So far, it seems to be powerful enough for our operations. I have not
compared it to VISTA - but it can collect customer data and zip codes
that is useful in targeted mailings. I will be able to let you know if
it works as we hope it to work in a few months when we are fully
operational with the system.

Janet

I've been told Retail Pro has been used at ski resorts for selling lift
tickets and it is a very powerful POS. Retail Pro doesn't have the
ability to collect marketing information that VISTA does and obviously
the POS doesn't do scheduling. We find that we need the ability to
modify scheduled groups because the number of individuals often changes
 from the initial reservation.

We are in the same boatwe will be
looking for similar software in the next year. For now, we are using a
customized tour scheduling program that we created in Access with the help of a
programmer. It works great, but as you know Access has limitations as well.
Raisers Edge has a new module called Patron Edge, but I havent seen a
demo on it yet.

If anyone has found something they really
like, please share!

Subject: Scheduling software

Has anyone found scheduling software that is uncomplicated
and incorporates scheduling all aspects within a Museum? We mainly have
tours, special events, and daily staff meetings that we want to track on one
calendar (instead of 10 different public calendars in Outlook!) It would
be nice if it could produce daily and weekly activity reports; monthly and
annual statistics, like numbers of attendants to different types of tours and
functions; track docent hours based on which tours they were scheduled to do,
track resource usage, etc; and give everything to you in one calendar view
screen! And dont forget unlimited users because we want everyone
on staff to be able to view the calendar and may be even book staff meeting
rooms. We looked at Vista, Blackbaud
Raisers Edge Events module, and ABC Event Manager. There are
things I like about each one of them. They all seem to focus on different
aspects of event planning. Some on room allocation, some on tracking
resources, some on finance, some on ticketing but, we just havent
quite found what we need.

So, what software are you using and what do you like/dislike
about it?

Plans

Our institution is in the midst of disaster planning, and we were wondering
if anyone out there would be willing to share their organization's disaster plan
documentin electronic format?

Thanks.
