You can lock the iPad into a single app mode, but I doubt you?ll find any app
that is sufficiently limited in scope to be safe and stable for exhibit
installation. Commercial applications are simple not designed for exhibit
installation and iPad's are not friendly to simple customization. Android OS is
a bit more open to customization, but it still requires programming.
The simplest solution is a custom HTML page locked with Kiosk Pro as suggested
earlier.
If the number of music selections is relatively small such that you might use a
simple browse interface, consider a touch screen and media player or digital
signage player rather than an iPad, or go old school with a touchscreen DVD
combo. This still requires development, but it?s potentially simpler and more
robust.
iPads are glitzy and romantic, but they are not particularly practical for
exhibit installation.

Hi All,
We are looking to have a listening station in a gallery for an upcoming
special exhibition. The goal is to load a selection of music for visitors to
listen to via headphones. I'm struggling with determining a method to load
the music on the an iPad to give visitors a choice in selecting something to
listen to while also limiting what they can access. iTunes doesn't seem to be
a good match as it has too many options/features.
Does anyone have any apps or media players they have used in the past for a
similar project?
Thanks!
