Designed by Daniel Libeskind (who is best known for his work on the Jewish Museum in Berlin and his design for the World Trade Center site in New York), the Frederic C. Hamilton extension of the museum opened in fall 2006, sparking controversy locally and drawing visitors from across the nation and around the world.
