Apologies for cross posting.

National Digital Forum 2010 Conference
Linking data, linking people

Monday 18 - Tuesday 19 October 2010
Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa, Wellington

The 9th annual National Digital Forum conference will be held in
Wellington on Monday 18 - Tuesday 19 October 2010 at the Museum of New
Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa.

The National Digital Forum (NDF) is a coalition of museums, archives,
art galleries, libraries and government departments with more than 150
member organisations committed to collectively building New Zealand's
culture and heritage online.

This year's conference theme is Linking data, linking people.
Throughout this conference we will be exploring the issues and
opportunities surrounding:
- connecting our collections
- linking up with each other
- using data
- working with communities (e.g. iwi, family historians, etc)
- working with content creators and consumers

This will be an opportunity to learn from others, including leaders in
the field and those starting out.

The conference will be based around a stimulating mix of international
keynote speakers, "lightning talks", expert led forums and demonstration
sessions.

Presentation Formats

Forums
We are looking for speakers to lead expert forums on key topics around
linking people and linking data. We seek to offer different
perspectives and points of view on a topic.

These sessions could include background and case studies designed to
promote discussion with the audience. Sessions will run for
approximately 90 minutes.

There will be up to four concurrent sessions. You can combine with
others and submit a proposal for a fully formed forum session, or
suggest an individual presentation and work with the conference
committee to create the full session.

Topics likely to be of interest at this year's conference include:

- Linking data
- Standards and authority control
- Community collaboration
- Users - what do they want from us?
- Case studies (e.g. 'doing more for less')

Demonstrations
This is an opportunity for you to share stories of your project with
other attendees, describe what you have been up to, what you have
achieved, and share the lessons you have learned from successes as well
as failures. These presentations will also stimulate active discussion
between you and the audience to allow feedback on your project and
enhance learning opportunities for both sides.

Up to four sessions will run concurrently. Each session will include
two demonstrations and last for approximately 30 minutes.

Proposals must be submitted by completing the appropriate Submission
Form

Conference.

[MCN-L] National Digital Forum 2010: call for proposals

2010-05-10 Thread jpbarb...@cox.net

Thank you so much for posting this information. I'm glad your cross posted so
that all could receive this information. Since I'm still in library school, I'm
learning very much from reading your posts. The postings provide really good
reference for such things as knowing where to locate equipment for a museum
setting and enough information to weigh the different kinds of hardware,
software and programs for digital image collections! Keep the good reviews and
discussions!
