Hi everyone, I’d like to invite this group to share what they know about turning traditional gallery spaces into small video theaters, and the acoustic treatments required to mitigate reverb and sound bleed.
At the MFA, we mitigate bleed by building shared walls with staggered studs, and rock wool insulation. We generally don’t use doors for exhibition video rooms, but light lock halls usually suffice to contain the sound enough. For acoustics, we’ve been using carpet tiles and when appropriate black commando cloth curtains, floor to ceiling. This is pretty effective but aesthetically distinct, so I’m especially interested to hear what others have done in this regard, for example with sound absorbing panels, etc. Thanks all, George –– George Scharoun Manager of Exhibition and Gallery Media Museum of Fine Arts, Boston gschar...@mfa.org | 617-369-3512 www.mfa.org<http://www.mfa.org> _______________________________________________ You are currently subscribed to mcn-l, the listserv of the Museum Computer Network (http://www.mcn.edu) To post to this list, send messages to: mcn-l@mcn.edu To unsubscribe or change mcn-l delivery options visit: http://mcn.edu/mailman/listinfo/mcn-l The MCN-L archives can be found at: http://www.mail-archive.com/mcn-l@mcn.edu/
