After a LOT of surfing I found the answer to my need for a digital I/O for the Mac. Midiman has a Delta 24/96 PCI card with Mac drivers which I bought for $209 from Soundchaser.com It has coax and optical I/O and an audio output. Drivers for the Mac are available from the Midiman website.
