Hi, after 4 years, I just discovered that a user will not be able to see my
references with references / if he is not logged in! However, Wikipedia
can display the references without the need for a user to log in. How can I

Have you considered using the $whWhitelist to allow users to see only those
pages you want them to? It might be a little tedious to keep the list up, but
not more so than some of your other options.
