Have a look at your browsers javascript-console. Maybe there you'll find
any hints regarding your problem.

After getting through some extension issues the page appears to load then
disappears and no errors other than this in the apache log
Could you please explain, what you mean with "the page disappears"? Do
you have a blank page?
