I will start a new thread for the access issue
I believe the local javascript issue is with MediaWiki:Edittools.js
I can't edit it so I can't verify

I added this to LocalSettings
$wgUseSiteJs = false;
Page stays up without going blank.
Now I need to figure out how to enable access, I only have read access.
Thank you,

Have a look at your browsers javascript-console. Maybe there you'll find
any hints regarding your problem.

It was specifically removed. The extension is really your only option. I
haven't looked, but it should be compatible with 1.27

I will see the page display for about 2 seconds then flash to a blank page with

After getting through some extension issues the page appears to load then

I added attachment with debug mediawiki + sql. Its debug after modifying
category for page "Debug page" from "IT" to "Devel". Save -> OK. Page
shows now Category "Devel", but links not refreshed.
