Dear all,
in 2015, there have been numerous reports of MEEP not compiling with
HDF5 on Debian Jessie and newer versions of Ubuntu [1,2]. This
happened due to a known change in the system [3].
After a longer trial-and-error, I found the required change in the
LDFLAGS variable so that I can compile

I was able to compile the single threaded version (not MPI) version of
the program with two problems on a 64 bit Debian 8 (testing)
system:
