This can happen if you are trying to call "load-flux" in scheme (or
load_flux() in python), but the file you are trying to load just doesn't
exist. Like if you ran the waveguide bend tutorial example without first
running the normalization.

I saw that for user-defined materials, meep does not perform subpixel
averaging.
(1) If I specify my material geometry via "epsilon_input_file", does meep
perform subpixel averaging after input and before simulation?
(2) Under what situations does subpixel averaging not occur?

Hello Abdel,
A waveguide eigenmode propagating through a straight waveguide should have
zero loss (assuming lossless dielectrics and no surface roughness) so the
transmittance is 1 and reflectance 0. This is why normalizing simulations
of other structures by the results for a straight waveguide
