On inspection of my Engine block ( OM617) after having come back from the engineers I see the one dowel pin between head and block was bent over at about 5 deg. This resulted in the hole for the pin being slightly elongated and this in fact has made the adjacent cylinder out of round - the metal

My '83 300D has a vacuum leak when the weather is cold, which stops when the weather is warm. The locks will operate when leaving the house, but after driving 12 miles to town in the cold air, the locks will not work. I'm not sure which part to replace first in order to try and fix it.
