They do go through and take all the measurements, both front
and back. There's just no way to do anything about the back
if it's off, other than to start replacing

W126 diesels seem to be more plentiful than the higher production W123
cars
of similar vintage in today's market. Wonder why this is...
The cheaper cars get less maintenance, and have hitherto died in
proportionately greater numbers? The WVO craze has killed a lot
of the 123's?

What added complexity? Electric seats? At a glance, the
rest of the accouterments are pretty much the same 'twixt
the late-model 123's and the diesel 126.

Yeah, after i wrote that I got thinking about it -- not a lot more
complex I guess, just seems more substantial or something.
I went to the boneyard and stripped out two front seats, got all the
bolts out but one on the center rear of the drivers seat, took me about
1.5 hour to get that thing

Say I was just on the phone with Tom and he was trying to verify
something by VIN number and he said that Mercedes was telling him my VIN
was invalid. Does that happen much?

They do say it is not a good number. I spent 10 minutes with them. Double

If EVERYTHING works in that SD, it's a screaming deal! My '83 is going up
for sale by week's end. It doesn't have working AC, but the windows and
sunroof do work. I'm hoping that I can get somewhere near $1500 for it, but

Today was not a car day. It was View Improvement day.
I cut down two pines that impaired the view of the dry
(-ish) lake bed from the new addition, and cut up the blue
spruce they pushed over with the Cat before construction
began. All for next winter's firewood. More tomorrow,
I think.
